Personal Development (9)

Our curriculum offer seeks to promote a passion for Personal Development within all students at TEMA.

Student Leadership Overview

Student Leadership is an important part of our vision and commitment to students. We have high aspirations for our students and believe that developing them as leaders plays a key role in community transformation and improving their life chances.

Personal Development Overview

We recognise that the curriculum extends beyond the academic, technical or vocational. We recognise that the curriculum is the entirety of learning opportunities offered to students both inside and outside the classroom.

The TEMA Offer 2020/21

At TEMA we believe that the curriculum is the sum total of everything that we hope students learn throughout their time with us.

British Values

We actively promote values such as mutual understanding and respect, equality between students and promote values of democracy, respect and tolerance for all races, cultures, faiths and beliefs. This is lived out in the programmes of SMSC, assemblies and curriculum provision.

Careers Advice

At our Academy students are offered comprehensive advice and a wide range of opportunities to develop their awareness about future careers. We want all of our pupils to aim high and reach their full potential.

TEMA makes History by Achieving the full Rainbow Flag Award

We were delighted to welcome The Proud Trust to our awards evening, where they presented us with the full Rainbow Flag Award for our commitment to LGBT+ inclusion. We are the first ever secondary school to be awarded the full Rainbow Flag Award!

Rainbow Flag Award for Outstanding Skilled Teacher

We are delighted to have been awarded the ‘Outstanding Skilled Teacher’ award of the Rainbow Flag Award, which encourages schools to become more LGBT inclusive and help eradicate homo/bi/transphobic bullying through education.

Becoming a Unicef UK Rights Respecting School

At The East Manchester Academy we aim to be a school where young peoples’ rights are at the heart of our ethos and culture, to improve well-being and to develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential. As part of this plan we are working towards recognition as a ‘Rights Respecting School’, an award given to schools on behalf of Unicef UK.
