The Lowry Theatre Trip 2018

Year 8 students went on a trip to the Lowry Theatre to watch the new Hamlet play by the Royal Shakespeare Company, which is currently touring the country. Aram (Year 8), tells us all about the experience.

The Lowry Theatre trip was incredible. The journey from school to the theatre and back was safe and fun. Miss Howe and Mrs Sheard-Pearson were very helpful and took all precautions on the trip. They also explained the timings, play and directions well to all students.

The actor really took the emotions Hamlet was going through and heightened them in a modern way.

The actual Hamlet play by the Royal Shakespeare Company was spectacular and as a first time viewer of the play I felt like I understood the context greatly. My favourite character/actor was Hamlet. The actor really took the emotions Hamlet was going through and heightened them in a modern way. He also added his own personality into the character, which allowed me to feel a closer connection to Hamlet himself, helping me to relate to the character.

In my opinion, this experience has allowed me to understand the Shakespeare play far better than any English class could. The experience has also allowed me to evaluate the performers in the play to improve my own skill.

I would like to thank the Performing Arts staff and The East Manchester Academy for organising this trip.
