Year 10 GCSE Spanish Students’ Graphic Design Talk ( Published: 14/07/2025)
Year 10 students recently attended an inspiring talk on careers in Graphic Design, where they explored the exciting opportunities this creative field has to offer. One key takeaway was the importance of language skills in the design industry. As a truly global market, graphic designers often work with clients and brands across the world, creating content for diverse audiences. Being able to speak another language not only broadens communication but also gives designers a cultural edge when creating visuals tailored for specific regions. Whether it’s designing packaging for an international product or working on a website for a foreign market, multilingual designers are in high demand.
The talk also highlighted the vast scope of the graphic design industry, showing students how design plays a vital role in sectors like sports, music, film, and fashion. From creating album covers and sports team logos to film posters and fashion branding, there’s a wide range of creative paths to explore. Students learned about practical steps they can take now to pursue a career in design – such as developing digital art skills, building a portfolio, and considering college or apprenticeship routes in graphic design or media. The session left many feeling motivated and informed about the exciting possibilities ahead.
I would like to thank TEMA for giving me the opportunity to speak to Year 10 about my career in graphic design. The thoughtful and mature questions I received from students showed their genuine interest in the industry and helped them to visualise their next steps in life. It showed that they very much take an active interest in their futures.
