Student entries in the 2026 Unite Poetry Competition

Young Writers’ Unite Poetry Competition 2026 ( Published: 12/10/2026)

The aim of this competition was to explore how poetry can bring people together and to get students to write for a purpose.

All students in Year 7-10 were invited to write a poem on a topic that mattered to them this half term. When the world feels fractured, students were given the opportunity to speak up, explore ideas and connect with others – to unite in their poetry.

The exciting aspect of this competition is that prizes will not only be awarded from the English department next half term, but this competition will also be judged nationally. If student’s work is selected in the national competition, they could potentially see their work published in a book and have the chance to win a range of exciting prizes including Kindles, Amazon and cinema vouchers.

It has been wonderful to see so many students enter this competition and to express themselves creatively through the art of poetry. TEMA truly has poetic voices that need to be heard!
