Key Stage 3 Students Turn ‘Gas Safety Detectives’ in Cross-Curricular Workshops ( Published: 25/06/2026)

This month (June 2026), we were delighted to welcome Cadent into school to deliver an exciting series of interactive workshops for the whole of Key Stage 3.

The sessions provided a fantastic boost to our cross-curricular offer, seamlessly bringing together Personal Development, Maths, and Science to show how classroom learning connects to the wider world.

Transforming into ‘training detectives’ for the day, our students were tasked with investigating a complex scenario to deduce exactly what had happened. To solve the mystery, they had to directly apply their curriculum knowledge – using practical mathematical problem-solving and scientific reasoning to analyse the evidence.

Ultimately, the investigative work led students to a crucial, real-life takeaway: understanding the vital importance of gas safety in the home. Our young people walked away not only with sharper analytical skills, but also with practical knowledge on how to spot hazards and keep themselves and their families safe.

A huge thank you to Cadent for delivering such an engaging, high-energy, and potentially life-saving programme to our Key Stage 3 students!
