Year 10 Languages Visit to the University of Salford ( Published: 11/03/2026)
Students began with an engaging languages workshop, where they had the chance to learn introductory phrases in French, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, and Arabic, as well as practise their existing Spanish. The session highlighted the value of speaking multiple languages and gave students a taste of the rich linguistic opportunities available at university level.
The group were then taken on a guided tour of the University of Salford campus. Students were able to see the cutting edge facilities, modern learning spaces, and specialist equipment that support a wide range of university courses. This experience helped students picture what life as a university student could look like.
The visit concluded with a Q&A session featuring current University of Salford students. Our Year 10 cohort asked thoughtful and ambitious questions about studying at university, student life, and future careers. Erin (from 10G1) asked some fantastic questions about the chances that higher education can provide and how these help young people to acquire aspirational opportunities later in life.
The trip was a fantastic experience, leaving students motivated, curious, and excited about their future academic pathways.
