Students during their human geography fieldwork in New Islington, in 2026

Year 10 New Islington Fieldwork ( Published: 23/07/2026)

As part of their Geography GCSE, Year 10 students visited New Islington to complete their human fieldwork.

Year 10 students visited New Islington, Manchester in June 2026 to complete their human geography fieldwork. They completed environmental quality surveys and land use surveys to help them assess the extent to which the regeneration of New Islington has been successful. Students worked hard to complete their surveys accurately. They will go on to use this in their Paper 3 exam next year.

Even though New Islington is local to us, it was good to consider how the area has changed over the last 20 years, and whether this has improved life for people living there.
