Year 10 students completing their fieldwork in Crowden Brook, Peak District, in April 2026

Year 10 Rivers Fieldwork ( Published: 30/04/2026)

As part of their Geography GCSE, Year 10 students visited Crowden in the Peak District to complete their fieldwork in Crowden Brook.

Despite drastically different weather conditions on each day (snow and warm sunshine!) the Year 10 students showed great resilience in completing their river study. They worked in groups to ascertain the width and depth of the river channel, as well as the velocity, in order to assess whether Crowden Brook follows the Bradshaw Model. Students were enthusiastic throughout and completed accurate measurements to complete their study. They will go on to use this in their Paper 3 exam next year.

Students showed exceptional ambition and resilience on both days of the trip to ensure data was gathered. There were definitely a few wet feet but they carried on regardless and had a great time!
