Students during a national live assembly in May 2025 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day

VE Day Commemorations ( Published: 09/05/2025)

Students at TEMA have been marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day. This marks the day when World War Two ended in Europe, and the allies declared victory over Nazi Germany.

Students have celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day at TEMA by taking part in a national live assembly on Thursday 8th May 2025. Students learnt about the significance of VE Day, and what this meant to people at the time. They enjoyed taking part in the live quizzes.

Students and staff have also been remembering the stories of those who served, from across the Commonwealth and in our own families.

Students have been keen to take part in a hunt to find posters of these servicemen and women around the school and have found their stories very interesting. Staff have participated by contacting elderly relatives to find out more about the people in their family who served in WWII and have shared their stories and pictures as posters.

It has been lovely to get in touch with my mum to find out more about what my grandparents did in the war. It is lovely to keep their memory alive in this way.
