A workshop with Brook Charity in March 2026

Brook Charity Offer Health Workshop ( Published: 15/04/2026)

Year 11 students took a break from their usual timetable to welcome specialists from Brook, the UK’s leading sexual health and wellbeing charity for young people.

As our students prepare for their next steps beyond secondary school, providing them with the knowledge and confidence to manage their personal health is a top priority. The session was designed to be informative, inclusive, and – most importantly – completely non-judgmental.

Navigating Choices and Services

The workshop covered a range of essential topics tailored to young adults, with a strong focus on contraception and informed consent. Brook’s facilitators guided students through the different types of contraception available, explaining how they work and where they can be accessed for free in our local community.

Key highlights of the session included:

  • Understanding Contraception – a deep dive into various methods, from long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) to barrier methods
  • Local Access – guidance on how to find and use local sexual health clinics and ‘under-25’ services
  • Confidentiality – reassuring students that Brook and many NHS services offer 100% confidential support, meaning they can seek advice and care independently
  • The C-Card Scheme – an introduction to how students can access free condoms and advice through local registration points

Why It Matters

Education isn’t just about exams; it’s about preparing for life. By partnering with Brook, we aim to strip away the stigma often associated with sexual health.

It was really helpful to hear about the services in a way that didn’t feel like a lecture. Knowing that there are places we can go where people are trained specifically to help young people makes a big difference.
Year 11 student

We are incredibly proud of how our Year 11s engaged with the session – asking insightful questions and showing great maturity throughout the session.

Where to Find More Information

If your child missed the session or would like to revisit some of the topics discussed, Brook’s website offers a wealth of digital resources, including:

  • Find a Service – use their digital tool to find the nearest free, confidential clinic
  • Help and Advice – online guides on everything from healthy relationships to mental wellbeing
