TEMA students at the Etihad Stadium in 2022

City Inspires Year 9 ( Published: 03/10/2022)

As part of the school’s work with City in the Community, a cohort of students were invited to spend the afternoon at the Etihad stadium.

During the afternoon, our students interacted with other students from a range of schools in the local area, and competed in a range of problem-solving activities. The afternoon was completed with a surprise visit from Manchester City defender, Aymeric Laporte. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and meet the superstar defender for a photograph opportunity.

Malachi (Year 9) asked: “If you weren’t a footballer, what would you be?” Laporte admitted he didn’t have a back-up plan if football didn’t work out at the time, but told the students how important it was to do well at school.

It was a great event and a wonderful opportunity for staff and students to meet the other schools who make up the City Inspires cohort for this academic year. Students loved having the opportunity to meet Laporte and can’t wait to show their friends the photographs they took.
