An episode of the KMTV Children’s TV series 'Generation Why', being recorded at TEMA in February 2023

KMTV Children’s TV series ‘Generation Why’ ( Published: 16/02/2023)

Alex and Triumph (Year 10 students) starred with leading roles in an episode of the KMTV Children’s TV series ‘Generation Why’ – recorded in collaboration with the British Film Institute and the University of Kent – with Year 7 and 8 students in audience.

‘Generation Why’ is an exciting collaboration between a young team of producers at KMTV and the excellent researchers at the University of Kent. They have been recommissioned by the British Film Institute to produce their second children’s documentary series for Key Stage 3 students.

The episode that our students took part in will be available on Freeview 7, Virgin 159 and online kentonline.co.uk/kmtv. Alongside the Local TV Network, that includes a national reach of thirteen million people. ‘Generation Why’ will explored religious belief, spiritual experiences and how our beliefs and behaviours are shaped and changed. Not only looking at traditional religious frameworks, but more broadly how we might each explore our individual experiences with faith and spirituality and how we can learn and be accepting of others.

The students of the East Manchester Academy are incredibly talented and articulate and we really look forward to working with such mature young people.
