Hamilton! ( Published: 27/02/2024)
Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway – the story of America then, as told by America now.
Following the performance, students took part in a 20 minute Q&A session led by a member of the company, as well as a technical demonstration which revealed the inner workings of the show, giving students an invaluable insight into theatre careers.
As part of the experience, students were tasked with creating a series of spoken work pieces entitled ‘The greatest city in the world’:
A city so grand, with history culture and music in hand, from bright big buildings to lively streets where dreams come true, and passions meet. Football chants, rain and resilient heart. Manchester you’re a work of art.

Reflecting on the day as a whole, Charlie (Year 10) said:
The performance was amazing, all of the cast and crew were amazing. My favourite part was the end where the cast and crew came and spoke to us. It was an experience of a lifetime, and something I’ll never forget.
