Year 10 Explore University Life at the University of Manchester ( Published: 13/02/2026)
The visit was designed to give students a real insight into university life, the pathways available to them, and the possibilities that higher education can unlock.
Throughout the day, students explored key areas of the university campus, including teaching spaces, study hubs, and social facilities. Guided by GM Higher staff and student ambassadors, they learned about the wide range of courses on offer, entry routes, and the support available to help future learners succeed.
Workshops throughout the visit encouraged students to think about their future pathway, raise their aspirations, and recognise the steps they can take now to prepare for their next stage. Many students commented on how inspiring it was to see the scale of the university environment and the opportunities that come with continuing their education.
This visit reflected one of our school’s core values: Ambition. We want every student to believe in their potential, and to feel confident in pursuing a fulfilling career. Opportunities like this help our young people imagine what is possible and give them a glimpse of the world that awaits beyond Year 11.
We are proud of how positively our students represented the school and how engaged they were throughout the experience. A huge thank you to GM Higher and the University of Manchester for providing such a valuable and motivating day.
