Year 8 Students Inspired by a Journey to Remember ( Published: 10/11/2025)
The students were chosen to take part in this special trip as a reward for achieving 100% attendance since September, demonstrating excellent commitment to their learning and the school community.
The Inspiration Train, developed in partnership with the National Railway Museum, featured three exhibition carriages exploring different aspects of railway innovation and discovery. In Railway Firsts, students learned about key moments and inventions that shaped railway history. The Wonderlab on Wheels carriage offered interactive, hands-on activities to help students understand the science and engineering behind train travel. Finally, in Your Railway Future, students explored a variety of modern and future career opportunities in the rail industry, from engineering and design to digital technology and sustainability.
The visit was both educational and inspiring, giving students a chance to see how creativity and innovation continue to shape transport and technology.
One student commented:
It was amazing to see how trains have changed over time and to think about how we could be part of the next big railway invention.
The school would like to express its sincere thanks to Community Rail Lancashire Ltd for providing free train tickets for the group, and to COMINO for making the trip possible.
