Motionhouse Dance Workshop Inspires East Manchester Academy Students ( Published: 30/01/2026)

On Thursday 29th January 2026, we were delighted to welcome two professional dancers from Motionhouse Dance Company for an inspiring and high-energy workshop with our dance students. Motionhouse is a professional company studied as part of the KS4 dance curriculum, so it was a real honour to host the dancers in our studio.

The workshop challenged students both physically and creatively, pushing them to their limits through powerful lifts, balances and dynamic movement sequences. Students had the unique opportunity to learn professional repertoire from Charge, a Motionhouse work they have been studying as part of their qualification. Experiencing this material first-hand gave students a deeper understanding of the company’s distinctive style and physical approach to dance.

In addition to learning repertoire, students were encouraged to choreograph their own pieces inspired by Motionhouse’s athletic and expressive movement style. This allowed them to develop their creativity, teamwork and confidence.

Both visiting dancers, Beth and Ollie, were truly inspirational, sharing their professional experiences and motivating students to aim high. The workshop was an unforgettable experience and a valuable opportunity that greatly enriched our dance curriculum.
