Students in New Islington, Manchester, completing their geography fieldwork in October 2022

Fieldwork in New Islington ( Published: 10/10/2022)

Year 11 geographers defied the wet weather to complete their human fieldwork in New Islington, where they investigated the success of the regeneration project.

On 5th October 2022, seventy-two Year 11 geography students walked from The East Manchester Academy to New Islington (an inner city area of Manchester), to assess how successful its regeneration project has been.

Pupils completed environmental surveys of three sites across the area, and showed strong resilience to overcome the miserable weather conditions. Despite the heavy rainfall saturating their data collection sheets, they collected some excellent data samples, which they’ll be able to use in their paper 3 geography exam next summer.
