Careers Business Lunch

TEMA Careers ran their first Business lunch in school, which was hosted by AECOM. Twelve Year 10 students were specially invited to take part in the inaugural event.

The business lunch took place on Wednesday 12th June 2019 in the school boardroom. The students heard from two female engineers from AECOM (an American multinational engineering firm) over lunch and had the opportunity to learn about the wide range of careers in the Engineering sector. They then had the chance to take part in a Q&A session, learning more about the speakers’ pathways into their job roles and the alternative paths they could have taken, including through the apprenticeship route.

Ms Manton-Pickering, Work Related Learning Co-ordinator said:

It was very exciting for the careers team to host our first business lunch in school. The speakers from AECOM were very inspirational and relayed their own experiences in a way that the students could identify with. Thank you so much to Kathryn and Ellis from AECOM for supporting our first event.

I learnt that your path in life can change, sometimes drastically, and you can end up loving a job you never dreamed of having.
Leon, Year 10 student

I enjoyed expanding my knowledge of Engineering. I went into the lunch with little knowledge on the topic and left with a lot more.
Laura, Year 10 student
