Macbeth Brought to Life for Years 10 and 11 ( Published: 09/02/2026)

On Friday 6th February 2026, students in Years 10 and 11 were treated to a powerful live performance of Macbeth, one of their GCSE English Literature set texts.

The performance was delivered by the manACTco company, whose engaging and accessible interpretation brought Shakespeare’s tragic play vividly to life.

Watching a professional production is a brilliant opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of character, themes and dramatic technique. Seeing the text performed helps students to engage with Shakespeare’s language, clarify key moments in the plot and gain fresh insight into characters such as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

The performance supported students’ classroom learning and provided valuable context ahead of their GCSE examinations. Students responded enthusiastically, commenting on how the live acting helped them visualise scenes and better understand the emotions and motivations of the characters.

Students said:

I really enjoyed watching the final scene when Macbeth was killed, it was more dramatic on stage.

I found watching Lady Macbeth’s final scene helpful as it demonstrated her mental collapse.

The play helped me to learn quotations.

We would like to thank manACTco company for an excellent performance and for helping to make English Literature come alive for our students.
