Year 8: The Farady Challenge ( Published: 10/02/2023)

As part of the school’s commitment to showcase STEM careers, students were given the opportunity to take part in an all day ‘Future Flight’ challenge.

The Faraday: Future Flight challenge took place on Thursday 26th January 2023, ran by the Institution of Engineering and Technology with a group of Year 8 students, which provided them with the opportunity to experience what it is like to be an engineer.

The session involved students designing and building vital components for future drones. They had to plan their design, select team roles, develop a prototype (buying items from the shop to make their items) and presenting their ideas to the group. They were assessed based on their teamwork skills, planning, budgeting and their final presentation.

The event showcased students’ innovative ideas and gave them a true experience of the day in the life of an engineer. The students had a great day, beaming with enthusiasm and confidently presented their ideas. I am so proud of each student for living our REACH values and working so hard!
