On completion of the course, students are able to confidently support fun, safe and inclusive football sessions, help respond to concussion and sudden cardiac arrest emergencies, as well as embed an Emergency Action Plan, encourage participation through effective use of motivation and communication techniques, use the STEP framework to plan fun activities that meet players’ needs and game-based practices to create engaging sessions.

To build upon theory-based learning, students were tasked with planning and delivering a session to the Year 7 Rooney’s inclusive reds SEN group. Each student worked with the course tutor over four sessions to conclude their learning.

The group planned a session that was inclusive and engaging for all of the players, splitting the session into a warm-up and main activity.

The session today was a real eye-opening experience on what coaching is really like. I enjoyed it and learned loads over the last few weeks.
