Imperial War Museum North Trip for Year 9 Students ( Published: 01/07/2025)

As part of our TEMA Offer, and to complement their studies in History and Geography, students were given the opportunity to visit Salford Quays.

Year 9 visited Salford Quays on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th June 2025. Students took the tram across to Salford Quays, with a walk through Canal Street and past Chinatown as an additional cultural experience due to Metrolink works! They were introduced to the museum content by experienced Army veterans and took the opportunity to ask them lots of questions about the artefacts on display. They were particularly interested to see items such as the piece of the Berlin Wall, and items from Holocaust victims, from topics they have learnt about this year.

Following the museum visit, students completed environmental quality surveys around Salford Quays to extend their learning about how to complete a geographical enquiry. They were very impressed by how the regeneration had been planned, and commented on how clean it was.

It was really lovely to see students engaging with the curriculum and talking to staff about what they could remember from their learning in Humanities.
Miss Carr-Brown, Head of Humanities

I really enjoyed the trip and found it really interesting. I didn’t know it was free to visit lots of things at Salford Quays!
