Year 10 Geography Fieldwork Trip to New Islington ( Published: 02/07/2025)

Year 10 Geography students visited New Islington on Monday 23rd June 2025, to conduct their human fieldwork investigation. During the visit, they collected essential data on environmental quality and land use, to assess how successful the regeneration of New Islington has been.

Over 110 Year 10 Geography students have recently conducted a visit to New Islington to collect essential data for their Paper 3 Geography exam, where they are required to write about two instances of familiar fieldwork. The data they collected during this trip will enable them to respond to their human fieldwork enquiry.

Students are exploring how successful the regeneration of New Islington has been, particularly for the economy and the environment. Students collected two types of data during their visit. The first piece of data was an environmental quality survey, where they assessed various features of the environment, such as green space and noise. They then went on to collect information about land use, looking at the main purpose of buildings in the area and categorising them appropriately.

It was lovely to take such a large group of students out for the day and see them behave in a very mature and respectful manner outside the school environment, whilst collecting important data for their examination next year.
