Summer Reading ( Published: 20/07/2023)

As part of the school’s commitment to providing students with valuable knowledge and experiences, we have continued this year to promote reading for meaning, fluency and pleasure.

This year we have been lucky to work with Read Manchester, The National Literacy Trust and Read for Good. As part of this, we have received over 300 brilliant books for our students to read, including Marcus Rashford’s ‘You Are a Champion’. Many of these books have now been gifted to our students to read over the summer.

It is important that we keep our minds active even when not at work or school. Whether reading a book, a magazine, an online blog or listening to a podcast, all exposure to language is beneficial. As you know, reading helps us to relax, provides us with the opportunity to improve our vocabulary and our knowledge, and allows us to understand and empathise with the experiences of others.

Over the summer holiday, please support the young people in your lives to read and to discuss what they have read. Why not take part in the Read Aloud Challenge? The Fonetti mobile phone app is free for families to use throughout the summer. If you are interested in this, please use the QR code below to register:
